Customers often ask, “when should my piano be tuned again?”
It depends on a number of factors, such as age, usage, climate, etc. Piano manufacturers suggest semi-annual tunings. However, for pianos in good condition, once per year is a good rule of thumb. The need for repairs can also be addressed during the tuning.
The longer a piano goes without regular tuning, the more difficult it becomes to bring it up to pitch. The risk of string breakage also increases. Pianos that have been neglected for 5 years or more may require a pitch raise procedure before a fine tuning is done.
If your piano has not been serviced for 10 years or more, an assessment will be required before a tuning appointment can be scheduled. Please contact us for more details.
